چکیده

This paper addresses a new Mixed-model Assembly Line Sequencing Problem in the Footwear industry. problem emerges large company, which benefits from advanced automated stitching systems. However, these systems need to be managed and optimised. Operators with varied abilities operate machines of various types, placed throughout lines. In different quantities, components shoe models, boxes, move along lines either direction. The work assumes that associated balancing problems have already been solved, thus solely concentrating on sequencing procedures minimise makespan. An optimisation model is presented, but it has just useful structure test small instances due practical problems’ complexity dimension. Consequently, two methods were developed, one based Variable Neighbourhood Descent, named VND-MSeq, other Genetic Algorithms, referred as GA-MSeq. Computational results are included, referring diverse real large-size problems. These allow for comparison novel ascertain their effectiveness. We obtained better solutions than those available company.

Genetic and Memetic Algorithms for Sequencing a New JIT Mixed-Model Assembly Line

This paper presents a new mathematical programming model for the bi-criteria mixed-model assembly line balancing problem in a just-in-time (JIT) production system. There is a set of criteria to judge sequences of the product mix in terms of the effective utilization of the system. The primary goal of this model is to minimize the setup cost and the stoppage assembly line cost, simultaneously. B...

‘BALANCING AND SEQUENCING’ VERSUS ‘ONLY BALANCING’ IN MIXED MODEL U-LINE ASSEMBLY SYSTEMS: AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

With the growth in customers’ demand diversification, mixed-model U-lines (MMUL) have acquired increasing importance in the area of assembly systems. There are generally two different approaches in the literature for balancing such systems. Some researchers believe that since the types of models can be very diverse, a balancing approach without simultaneously sequencing of models will not yield...

Optimisation of assembly scheduling in VCIM systems using genetic algorithm

Assembly plays an important role in any production system as it constitutes a significant portion of the lead time and cost of a product. Virtual computer-integrated manufacturing (VCIM) system is a modern production system being conceptually developed to extend the application of traditional computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) system to global level. Assembly scheduling in VCIM systems is ...
